Social Justice Through Digital Empowerment: Insights from Digital Justice Initiatives by and for Marginalized Groups and Communities

Digital and artificial intelligence (AI) initiatives developed by and for marginalized groups and communities are increasingly being used as tools for social justice.

This article presents findings from an exploratory study on how these initiatives reflect and reinforce the communities’ agency, cultural values, and epistemologies, and enable actors to challenge systemic exclusion, assert data sovereignty, and promote political participation.
