In an article in The Conversation Canada on November 23, 2021, «Comment l’intelligence artificielle reproduit et amplifie le racisme», authors Karine Gentelet and Lily-Cannelle Mathieu explain how artificial intelligence systems (AIS) amplify certain types of discrimination.
The researchers are currently conducting research on digital social justice initiatives that aim to reverse certain inequalities and social injustices. As part of this work, they are analyzing the conditions for the development of initiatives that respect the needs and support the communities in which these technologies are deployed. As such, they have documented the impacts of digital technologies and the social, racist and discriminatory setbacks they can cause for groups that have been marginalized from their society.
