Obvia is pleased to announce the appointment of three members of its research community to its Executive Committee and Scientific Committee.
We extend our congratulations to Hugo Loiseau, Full Professor at the School of Applied Politics at the Université de Sherbrooke, who succeeds Steve Jacob as the Director in charge of collaboration with public stakeholders at Obvia.
We also welcome the appointment of Valéry Psyché, Professor in the Department of Education at Université TÉLUQ, who becomes Co-lead of the Education and Empowerment research axis, taking over from Chris Isaac Larnder.
Finally, we highlight the appointment of Sébastien Gambs, Professor in the Department of Computer Science at the Université du Québec à Montréal, as Co-lead of the Law, Cyberjustice, and Cybersecurity research axis, alongside Anne-Sophie Hulin and Vincent Gautrais.

“I intend to maintain the existing synergy within the axis and continue strengthening its role as a leader in both reflection and action on the impacts of AI in education.”
– Valéry Psyché, Co-lead of the Education and Empowerment research axis
“The security and ethical issues raised by the development of AI and digital technologies are complex and, in my view, require strong cooperation between legal and technical approaches. As Co-lead of the Law, Cyberjustice, and Cybersecurity research axis, my primary goal is to foster interdisciplinary dialogue on long-term scientific questions such as the tension between privacy protection and big data analysis, as well as issues of fairness, accountability, and transparency raised by algorithmic systems.”
– Sébastien Gambs, Co-lead of the Law, Cyberjustice, and Cybersecurity research axis
“I’m excited to join Obvia’s Executive Committee as Director of Collaboration with Public Stakeholders. I intend to continue strengthening existing partnerships with public stakeholders and to build new, relevant collaborations to ensure the success of Obvia’s mission.”
– Hugo Loiseau, Director of Collaboration with Public Stakeholders
