Start your exploration with our Basic Glossary, which brings together terms to help understand the resources produced by our research community on the challenges of artificial intelligence and digital technologies.

It offers a non-exhaustive list of definitions, designed to engage a broad audience interested in deepening their knowledge of AI fundamentals and beginning their learning journey.

Next, explore our Critical Glossary, developed by a group of international colleagues following discussions on scientific diplomacy held in Geneva.

This glossary offers an in-depth analysis of terms often overlooked in the AI ecosystem. Presented with an engaging, forward-looking perspective, it provides definitions, concrete examples, and open-ended questions. The aim is to encourage reflection and stimulate enriching exchanges in an educational context.

The first version of the glossary is in English, with a French version coming soon. As an evolving project, it will be updated annually with contributions from various colleagues and members to offer a social and philosophical perspective on technological developments.

These two evolving tools will be regularly updated with new definitions, helping you clarify essential terms in a constantly changing field.

Are you a teacher?

Developed by Obvia's Education and Empowerment hub in collaboration with RÉCIT, the AI Alphabet is an essential tool for understanding key concepts in artificial intelligence. Organized alphabetically, it offers clear and detailed fact sheets, each providing a precise definition and a concrete example to aid in the comprehension of the concepts covered. These fact sheets are grouped into three categories: fundamental concepts, AI ethics, and AI techniques, enabling a comprehensive and structured exploration of the field.

This document was created as a supplementary resource to "IA-tu pensé?", an activity developed by Simon Duguay, RÉCIT, and Obvia, which can be taught in Grade 10 as part of the Quebec Culture and Citizenship program (CCQ).
