Obvia – the International Observatory on the Societal Impacts of AI and Digital Technology – is proud to announce the launch of its public exhibition entitled ''À l'heure de l'IA'', which aims to strengthen literacy about how AI works and to raise awareness of its challenges and impacts across different spheres of society
With ''À l'heure de l'IA'' we want to provide a space for reflection on the use and impact of technologies in our daily lives. It is an invitation to slow down, to observe, to question our relationship with the digital world, while fostering dialogue with citizens,” says Philip Jackson, Scientific Director, Research at Obvia.
This exhibition offers a reflection on the growing presence of artificial intelligence, which is redefining our habits. It invites us to question the issues related to its use, as well as the complex technical and organizational choices that carry significant consequences. These issues, both nuanced and interconnected, call for solutions rooted in interdisciplinary collaboration, where the social sciences play a decisive role.
Over the course of a day, the exhibition takes the public through eight scenes of everyday life in which characters interact with AI-powered technologies. In line with the cross-cutting approach that defines Obvia’s strength, the exhibition brings together diverse perspectives from researchers, citizens, and professionals to foster a multidimensional understanding of the challenges involved.
As part of Université Laval’s Year of AI Literacy, the exhibition is presented at the Université Laval Library from September 19 to October 27, 2025. The opening took place on September 18, in the presence of Université Laval and Obvia leadership, the exhibition’s creators, partners, and members of the university community.
Developed with the support of the Fonds de recherche du Québec and the special contribution of Université Laval’s Faculty of Social Sciences, this initiative reflects a shared commitment with Obvia to bring science closer to citizens.
The travelling exhibition will be presented across the province. Organizations wishing to host the exhibition in their community can submit a request by writing to : connaissances@obvia.ca
