With the proliferation of Artificial Intelligence (AI) systems such as generative AI, predictive models and conversational agents, several questions are emerging about the possibilities and risks of this technology for teaching and learning. How can AI be used for planning, steering, assessment or pedagogical differentiation? How can AI be managed in a pedagogical context? How do learners really use AI? What is the level of AI literacy among all these players?

Co-organized by the Observatoire sur les impacts sociétaux de l'AI et du numérique (OBVIA) and the Revue internationale des technologies en pédagogie universitaire (RITPU), this symposium seeks to answer these questions by creating a space for discussion between researchers, educational practitioners, tool designers and learners on the prospects and limitations of AI in pedagogical contexts. The symposium will take place in two parts: (1) in primary, secondary and adult education, and (2) in post-secondary education. Presenters of the second theme - pedagogical uses of AI in post-secondary education - will be invited to publish the results of their research in a special issue of RITPU on the subject of the symposium.
