6th Rencontre des Jeunes Chercheuses et Chercheurs en Droit & Numérique (Young Law & Digital Researchers' Meeting)

Seminar | Hybrid

Date:
Schedule: 8:30 to 16:30
Place: Salon François-Chevrette, A-3464, Faculté de droit, Université de Montréal

Created in 2018 on the initiative of graduate students from the Faculty of Law at Université Laval and Université de Montréal, the “Rencontre des Jeunes Chercheuses et Chercheurs en Droit & Numérique” event aims to enable members of the student community, as well as young researchers, to present the results of their work and exchange with their peers during various discussion periods. It thus contributes to the training of the next generation of digital law researchers.

Topics covered

Digital technologies are infiltrating the very heart of healthcare and medical relationships: the digitization of health records, the automated processing of patient data and the use of telemedicine all call into question respect for certain rights and freedoms, in particular the protection of privacy. These technologies are also a powerful means of enhancing medical and pharmaceutical research and innovation, and the law is both a vector and an obstacle to these upheavals. Finally, the use of these technologies seems to promote the autonomy of individuals concerned by their well-being and that of their environment, but raises questions about their place within the community: should the law make them responsible for their uses, or limit their digital freedoms when it comes to protecting one, two or three of the interlocking strands at the heart of the “One Health” concept?

For whom?

This event is primarily aimed at a public from the legal sciences, and possibly from the health or digital sectors, whether from the academic, public or private sectors. It will be of particular interest to up-and-coming academics.

What can we expect from this day?

Throughout the day, speakers will have the opportunity to discuss the implementation of digital technologies at the heart of human, environmental and animal health - three interwoven strands at the heart of the “One Health” concept - and to question their legal framework.

This event will enable participants to discover the interactions between health and digital technologies; to familiarize themselves with health law and digital law; to develop their understanding of the “One Health” concept; and to broaden their knowledge through new perspectives.
