Thierry Badard is professor in geoinformatics at the Department of geomatics sciences of Université Laval in Quebec City (Canada). He is a regular researcher at the Centre for research in geospatial data and intelligence (CRDIG) that he leaded between 2016 and 2022. He is also a regular member and on the steering committee of the Big Data Research Centre (BDRC) at Université Laval. He is also a regular research at the IID (Institute for Information and Data). He has more than 28 years of experience and he has been involved and has led national and international R&D projects of importance with concrete applications and contributions for users and different industries. He acts as a chair, editor and reviewer for numerous international journals and scientific conferences and has already an important record of scientific and concrete contributions. Thierry Badard is also actively involved in the geospatial free and open source community and has been involved in OSGeo (Open Source Geospatial Foundation) since its inception in 2006. His research interest deals with geospatial Big data, GeoAI, GeoNLP, location analytics, data integration and fusion for better decision support, geospatial Business Intelligence, IoT (Internet of Things), digital twins and smart cities.
