Lynne Bowker holds a PhD in Language Engineering. At Université Laval, she is full professor and Canada Research Chair in Translation, Technologies and Society. She is a also a certified translator (FR-EN) with the Ordre des traducteurs, terminologues et interprètes agréés du Québec and a Fellow of the Royal Society of Canada . She works in the field of translation technologies, where she has introduced innovative approaches to studying these technologies in translator training and beyond. The influence of her work on the use of technologies in minority language communities extends beyond the academic world, into international social and political spheres, where she has enabled critical reflection on how language technologies are integrated into society.
